BRENDAN'S TRIBUTE

The world has lost an incredible soul. We weren't close friends with Brendan, yet their impact on us was big - as it was for most people who met this extremely caring, positive, radiant human. Brendan is so special to us because we met at the very start of our journey into creating WE ARE MORTALS. We interviewed Brendan shortly after they had moved to Los Angeles, before we even had any clothes for sale, to start the discussion about gender. We were in awe of Brendan's poise and wisdom, especially since they were only 22 years old at the time. Brendan had developed an amazing outlook on life. A carefree, loving attitude that allowed them to live boldly without fear yet always with immense kindness towards everyone. It's the kind of attitude we all strive to have, and Brendan was living proof that it's possible.

WE ARE MORTALS got its name when owner/designer Anji's mother passed away from cancer. The brand's name signifies the realization that life is short and we have to live it to the fullest. This awareness is something we all share as humans, regardless of demographics and any differences we may have. Brendan's tragic death is another reminder of this message. Brendan will always be in the hears of many.

Forever B is a video compilation that uses clips of our interview with Brendan and gives a glimpse into Brendan's life.

Love Bailey's performance at Brendan's tribute party was incredible! Bailey is not only a performer, but also a film director and visionary with a top-notch aesthetic that is sure to go down in history. You can also find her work, including music, film, and fashion, under the name Slather Factory. She has an artist collective on her ranch, called The Savage Ranch, where she cultivates a community of artists who push boundaries and challenge the norm. Brendan was one of these beloved artists. See Bailey & friends' performance in honor of Brendan below, shot by our very own Jeannette Deron.
